Salua Ares is a visual artist whose practice unfolds through hybrid approaches that move between photography, video, installation, text, and object. Her work is driven by an interest in both what fades and what reveals itself within the dynamics of contemporary life, exploring frictions between past and present, memory and invention, the visible and the latent.

In her work, Salua seeks to open spaces for possible fabulations. Words have become increasingly present in her recent production, through the investigation of dialogues between text and image, or text and material. The construction of her pieces often embraces monochromy and compositional restraint as a counterpoint to the excesses to which we are daily exposed.

In 2023, she held her first solo exhibition at the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) in São Paulo, after the selection of her project Azinhaga through the “Nova Fotografia” open call. The exhibited works have since joined the museum’s permanent collection. In 2021, she was selected for the Experimental Photography Festival (Barcelona, Spain) and the Pequeno Encontro da Fotografia (Pernambuco, Brazil).

She also took part in the ACHO 22/23 International Artistic Residency (Campinas, Brazil).

Salua holds a degree in Economics (IBMEC, 2007) and in Photography from the Escola Panamericana de Arte (2017).
